LAWRENCE, Kan. — Forward Atticus Richmond is the latest to sign with Kansas Men's Basketball, KU head coach
Bill Self announced today. Richmond will be a freshman at Kansas in 2026-27.
"Atticus is a youngster that has great size," Self said. "He has some perimeter skills but mainly plays inside and will add depth to our big man positions. He's been extremely well coached and well drilled. I look at him as a Mitch Lightfoot type when Mitch was coming to us out of high school."
Richmond (6-foot-8, 230 pounds) played last season at Newman School, a prep school in Boston. The Lincolnshire, Illinois native averaged 9.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists at Newman. Newman posted 39-3 record and won the NEPSAC Class AAA championship, the national prep championship, and the New England Basketball League title.
Prior to Newman School, Richmond played at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois, and at the Berkshire School in Sheffield, Massachusetts. Stevenson HS produced current NBA great Jalen Brunson.
Richmond joins a loaded freshman class that includes 2026 McDonald's All-Americans Tyran Stokes and Taylen Kinney, along with Davion Adkins, Luke Barnett, Trent Perry, and Grant Mordini. Kansas has also signed four transfers in Dennis Parker Jr. from Radford, Christian Reeves from College of Charleston, Keanu Dawes from Utah and Leroy Blyden Jr. from Toledo.
