Grammy-winning rock group will be joined by Slayyyter and Die Spitz in return of revered concert experience in celebration of Mammoth Live's 20th anniversary.
LAWRENCE, KAN. (June 23, 2026) — Day on The Hill, the iconic concert experience at the University of Kansas, is returning this fall after a 19-year hiatus with a headlining performance by Turnstile, the university and Mammoth Live announced on Tuesday.
Turnstile, the Baltimore rock band which made history earlier this year by winning Grammy Awards in both the metal and rock categories in the same year, will be joined by Slayyyter and Die Spitz on October 6, 2026, at The University of Kansas on The Hill. Tickets go on public sale Friday, June 26, at 10 a.m. Central time.
Mammoth Live, the Lawrence-based independent promoter of concerts and major events around the United States, is reviving Day on The Hill in celebration of Mammoth Live's 20th anniversary this year. The event, which was made famous by Pearl Jam's historic set in 1992, has not taken place since 2007.
"Day on the Hill is such a legendary part of Lawrence and KU music history," Mammoth co-founder Josh Hunt says. "We are beyond excited to help revive the spirit of this iconic event in modern times. We feel we couldn't have asked for a better lineup in 2026 to honor this Kansas tradition."
Day on The Hill began with Pearl Jam's performance as an outdoor concert hosted by the University of Kansas Student Union Activities (SUA) using leftover budget money. In subsequent years, it featured bands such as They Might Be Giants and The Urge as well as a rotating cast of local and regional acts.
Bringing the event back is sure to tap into the nostalgia of those who attended in past years, but its primary purpose is to showcase the bright campus atmosphere and community life surrounding KU today.
"The return of a concert to the Hill is a landmark moment for KU," says Heather Blanck, Vice Chancellor of Strategic Growth Initiatives and Real Estate. "We're excited to activate one of the university's most treasured spaces and create an experience that celebrates the spirit of our campus and our city. This event is about bringing people together—from KU students and alumni to music fans across greater Kansas City area — and showcasing the Hill as a vibrant destination."
Its revival will showcase Turnstile at the peak of its success. Since the band's formation in 2010 as a hardcore punk group, it has evolved into the realms of metal and rock. Its 2021 breakthrough album, Glow On, earned three Grammy nominations and launched the band to the top of concert bills. Turnstile's 2025 LP, Never Enough, received five Grammy nominations in 2026, making Turnstile the first band to be nominated in the rock, alternative, and metal categories in the same year. The band took home the Grammy for Best Metal Performance for the song "Birds" and the Grammy for Best Rock Album.
Joining Turnstile at Day on The Hill will be Slayyyter, whose electropop sounds and sex-positive lyrics have been bolstered by her third studio album, Worst Girl in America, released in March. The red-hot Austin rock group Die Spitz, fresh off their 2025 debut album, Something to Consume, rounds out the Day on The Hill lineup.
