Kansas Men’s Cross Country Ranked No. 29 in USTFCCCA Preseason National Rankings

LAWRENCE, Kan. - USTFCCCA released its 2026 NCAA Division I Preseason National Poll Tuesday afternoon, with the Kansas men's team being ranked No. 29 in the country to begin the season. The ranking comes after the team was also picked as the No. 4 team in the Midwest Region.
Last season, the Kansas men's cross country team finished as the No. 11 ranked team in the Midwest regional after a fifth place finish at the Big 12 Championship and an 11th place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional. The team was unranked nationally at the end of last season.
This season, the Jayhawks are No. 4 in the Midwest Region to begin the season, up seven spots from the end of last year. USTFCCCA also designated the team as No. 29 nationally.
Kansas' regional ranking falls behind the preseason No. 1 and defending champion Oklahoma State, No. 3 Iowa State, and No. 18 Tulsa. The No. 29 national ranking is the fifth highest in the Big 12.
In addition to the men's team climbing up the preseason rankings, the Kansas women's cross country team moved up 13 spots from the end of last season in the Midwest Region. The Jayhawks are ranked No. 11 in the region.
Both teams begin their season this Saturday, September 5, at the Bob Timmons Classic at Rim Rock Farm. The men's 6K race will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the women's 5K race at 8:45 a.m. More information, including live results, can be found here.
