Mary Woods-Lopez joins the Kansas women's swimming and diving program, after most recently serving as the head coach of the men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs at Saint Louis University fostering a highly successful a dynamic environment.

In her inaugural season, Woods-Lopez assisted Clark Campbell and his staff in securing three school records, eight pool records, 98 lifetime best times, and 16 all-time top 5 performances. Additionally, the Jayhawks landed a fifth place finish at the 2025 Big 12 Championships and tied for their second-best NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship showing with 25th place.

Woods-Lopez initially joined the Saint Louis staff as a graduate assistant in August 2020 before being elevated to interim head coach in September 2022. During her first season leading the program, Woods-Lopez implemented training plans that helped produce four school records and 80 lifetime-best performances at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Conference Championships. Additionally, During the spring 2024 semester, Woods-Lopez guided the Billiken women’s team to a 3.86 GPA, the highest among all NCAA Division I men's and women's swimming and diving programs.

Prior to her coaching career, Woods-Lopez competed collegiately at DePauw University from 2015-19. A team captain and four-year letter winner, she earned All-Conference honors and qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships. Woods-Lopez also held school records in the 100 IM, 200 freestyle relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay.

A native of the Carmel swimming community, Woods competed for Carmel Swim Club and Carmel High School from 2009-15. She was a four-year letter winner and team captain at Carmel and contributed to four Indiana high school state championship teams.

Woods-Lopez earned her Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from DePauw University in 2019 before receiving her Master of Science in Project Management from Saint Louis University in 2022.
