PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Kansas junior Anastasia Rychagova will play in the main draw consolation bracket after a first-round loss Thursday at the Riviera ITA Women’s All-American in Pacific Palisades, California at the Riviera Tennis Club.
Ranked No. 35 in the preseason poll, Rychagova rallied in the second set against the No. 63 ranked Fernanda Contreras, but ultimately fell in the three-set match, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
“Knowing Nastia (Rychagova) the way I do, I know she is disappointed with (Thursday’s) outcome,” said head coach Todd Chapman. “With that said, I know how competitive she is and know she will be even more determined competing in the consolation bracket (Friday).”
In the main draw consolation bracket, Rychagova will face Arianne Hartono of Ole Miss Friday at 2:30 p.m., CT.
