BATON ROUGE, La. – The Kansas women’s tennis team concluded its fall season Sunday with three singles wins at the Tiger Fall Classic at the LSU Tennis Complex.
On the final day of competition, the Jayhawks went 3-3 against Princeton in singles. Maria Toran Ribes defeated Clare McKee, 7-6 (7-1), 6-4. Tatiana Nikolaeva downed Tiffany Chen, 6-2, 6-1. Carla Pons Martorell won her match, 6-4, 6-1, against Sara Goodwin.
“(Sunday) marks the end of our fall season,” said head coach Todd Chapman. “We definitely played some good tennis this fall and we definitely have areas that we need to work on before our first matches in January. Now it is time to put the work in to better our team and to continue to develop our Kansas tennis program.”
Janet Koch won the first set, but ultimately fell in three to Katrine Steffensen, 2-6, 6-2, 6-0. Nina Khmelnitckaia dropped her match, 6-4, 6-3, to Nicole Kalhorn. Amber Policare lost to Nathalie Rodilosso in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
