LAHAINA, Haw – Entering the final round of the Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic, Kansas men’s golf was tied for ninth and 4-under par in the 20-team field. Kansas improved nine strokes in Sunday’s third round and finished 13-under par in 10th place in the final competition for the fall.

Kansas sophomore Harry Hillier fired a 2-under 69 in the third round to finish 6-under in the tournament and tied for 18th in the 116-player field. That marks the fourth top-20 finish in Hillier’s collegiate career. Individual golfer Jake Scarrow started the day hot with three straight birdies and also finished tied for 18th overall.

Sophomore Ben Sigel and junior Andy Spencer found the most success in round three with both carding 4-under par 67, combining for 10 birdies and one eagle. Spencer collected five of his birdies on the front nine and finished the Classic 4-under which tied for 26th, while Sigel shot 3-under finishing tied for 33rd.

Senior Charlie Hillier shot an even par 71 on the day, which resulted in a 2-over total in the tournament. Drew Shepherd stayed consistent throughout the day as he parred 12 holes straight. Shepherd would card a 7-over for the classic.

The University of California finished the classic 47-under to capture the tournament victory, led by Sebastian Crampton who would finish 17-under par overall. Kansas a team collected four top-5 finishes out of the five tournaments competed in this fall, including a first-place finish at The Jackrabbit. The Jayhawks are set to tee off the spring portion of their schedule at the Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, California, on February 22.
