LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawks are back in action on Thursday, Nov. 14, as non-conference play continues against the Omaha Mavericks.

Tipoff from Allen Fieldhouse is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and the game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Josh Klingler (play-by-play) and Wayne Simien (analyst) on the call. Fans can also listen to the game on the Jayhawk Radio Network from Learfield, with Steven Davis and David Lawrence calling the action.

Kansas improved to 2-0 on the year with a 66-51 victory over Sam Houston State on Nov. 11 in Lawrence.
S'Mya Nichols led the Jayhawks in scoring with 16 points despite battling foul trouble, while
Brittany Harshaw added 14 points and nine rebounds.

Laia Conesa chipped in 13 points apiece in the win.

With the win, the Jayhawks improved to 2-0 for the seventh time in 10 seasons under head coach
Brandon Schneider. Kansas was picked to finish eighth in the Big 12 preseason poll and the Jayhawks have won at least 20 games and a game in the postseason in each of the past three seasons.

A Preseason All-Big 12 selection, Nichols has started off her sophomore season with back-to-back games scoring in double digits after going for 16 points in the win over Sam Houston. She was 4-for-5 from the field in the game and knocked down 8-of-14 free throw attempts to lead the Jayhawks despite playing less than 20 minutes due to foul trouble. Through two games, Nichols is averaging 18.0 points and 5.0 assists per game.

Harshaw had her best scoring game in a Kansas uniform and matched her career-high as she put up 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting against Sam Houston. She also led the Jayhawks in rebounding as she pulled down nine boards for the second-straight game. Harshaw is currently KU's leading three-point shooter, having knocked down 5-of-11 (45.5 percent) attempts through the first two games.

The Jayhawks had eight players appear in the win over Sam Houston and got 16 points off the bench, with a career-high 13 of them coming from sophomore guard
Laia Conesa. Conesa was 5-of-9 from the field and hit 3-of-4 free throws, while adding four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Nadira Eltayeb added the other three bench points, while pulling down a career-high eight rebounds.

Omaha is 1-2 on the year following an 89-83 home loss to Western Illinois on Nov. 10. The Mavericks also dropped an 88-48 decision at No. 23 Nebraska on opening day before rebounding with a 108-45 victory over the College of Saint Mary on Nov. 7. Omaha was picked to finish ninth in the Summit League this season, while senior guard Grace Cave was a preseason all-league second team selection.

This will be the 10th all-time meeting between Kansas and Omaha, with the series dating back to 1976. Kansas leads the series 6-3, including wins in six of the past seven matchups. The Jayhawks are 2-0 against Omaha since the Mavericks became an NCAA Division I institution, winning 63-48 on Nov. 13, 2019, and 81-56 on Nov. 17, 2021, with both contests played in Lawrence.
