TUCSON, Ariz. - No. 8 Kansas Volleyball is set to continue its road trip through Arizona, as the trip will conclude with a Friday night contest against the Arizona Wildcats inside the McKale Center, with first serve set for 7 p.m. CT.
"We've been good this year at preparing and valuing our next opportunity, and we will need to continue that trend against a good Arizona team," said Kansas Head Coach Ray Bechard.
Kansas comes into the match fresh off their second loss of the season at the hands of Arizona's rival, Arizona State. The Sun Devils topped the Jayhawks 3-1 in Tempe on Wednesday night to tie Kansas for first in the Big 12 conference. Kansas is still ranked eighth in the AVCA poll, and carries a 20-2 overall record, along with a 11-1 conference mark into Friday's match.
Arizona, like Kansas, also lost on Wednesday, to another Wildcats team in Kansas State. K-State swept Arizona inside the McKale Center Wednesday night, as Arizona dropped to 13-9 overall, and 2-9 in Big 12 play. The Wildcats have lost seven of their last eight and four in a row.Â
Kansas and Arizona have only met twice on the volleyball court, with the two teams splitting the contests. Kansas won the first matchup in 2013 in Tucson, but the Wildcats would avenge that loss by topping Kansas in 2019 at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena. Friday night will mark the third contest between the two schools, with whoever winning taking the series lead.Â
Friday's match can be streamed on ESPN+. Fans can also follow the Kansas Volleyball X Account and StatBroadcast for live updates throughout the match.
