LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women's basketball returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 1, as the Jayhawks travel to Ames, Iowa to face Iowa State in their first game of 2025.

Tipoff from Hilton Coliseum is set for 2 p.m. CT and the game will be televised on ESPN+ with BJ Schaben (play-by-play) and Chelsea Poppens (analyst) on the call. Fans can also listen to the game on the Jayhawk Radio Network from Learfield, with Steven Davis calling the action.

Kansas enters the game with a record of 10-2 and the Jayhawks are 0-1 in Big 12 play after dropping the conference opener to Baylor, 86-66, on Dec. 21 at Allen Fieldhouse. The loss snapped a 15-game home winning streak, the fourth-longest such streak in program history.

The Jayhawks finished non-conference play with a 10-1 record after defeating Penn State 68-65 on Dec. 15 in Lawrence. Kansas was 7-0 at home prior to the start of league play, while also claiming victories over Pittsburgh, Northern Iowa and Auburn in the U.S. Virgin Islands to claim the Paradise Jam championship.

S'Mya Nichols scored a team-high 25 points in KU's conference opener against Baylor, marking the eighth time this season that Nichols has topped the 20-point mark and the 10th time she's led the Jayhawks in scoring. Nichols is the No. 2 leading scorer in the Big 12, averaging 21.4 points per game and she's scored at least 16 points in all 12 games that KU has played.

Nichols, a Preseason All-Big 12 selection, has been able to score in a variety of ways this season. She is shooting 46.0 percent (69-150) from the field and 41.9 percent (13-31) from three-point range, while establishing herself as one of the top free throw shooters in the nation. Through 12 games, Nichols leads the country in both free throws made (106) and attempted (131), and she's ranked No. 10 in the Big 12 by shooting 80.9 percent from the line.

Elle Evans reached double figures in scoring for the ninth time in the past 10 games as she scored 13 points against Baylor. Evans was 3-for-9 from three-point range in the game, marking the eighth time this season she's hit multiple three-pointers in a single game. Evans is KU's No. 2 leading scorer, averaging 13.3 points per game, and shooting 36.8 percent (25-67) from beyond the arc.

Regan Williams was 4-for-5 from the field, totaling nine points and three rebounds against Baylor. Williams, named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week on Dec. 9, is KU's No. 5 leading scorer at 7.1 points per game and leads the team with 6.1 rebounds per game.

Iowa State is 9-5 (0-1 Big 12) on the year after suffering an 81-75 defeat at Oklahoma State on Dec. 21. Three of ISU's four non-conference defeats came against ranked opponents. Audi Crooks leads the Big 12 in scoring, averaging 22.1 points per game and she's tied for the league lead with six double-doubles this season. The Cyclones are led by Bill Fennelly, who is the dean of Big 12 head coaches and now in his 30th season at Iowa State.

Wednesday's matchup will be the 99th all-time meeting between Kansas and Iowa State in a series dating back to 1978. The series is tied at 49-49 after the two teams split their matchups last season. Kansas is 16-29 all-time against ISU in Ames, with the last win coming in 2015.
