LAWRENCE, Kan. – For the first time as Big 12 Conference foes, the Kansas Jayhawks will head to the Fertitta Center in Houston, Texas, a matchup against the Houston Cougars on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Tipoff from Houston is set for 2 p.m. CT and the game will be televised on ESPN+ with Matt Pederson (play-by-play), Jordan Lewis (analyst) and Brooke Kirchhofer (reporter) on the call. Fans can also listen to the game on the Jayhawk Radio Network from Learfield, with Steven Davis calling the action.

Kansas comes into the contest off a 79-61 defeat at Utah on Wednesday night in Salt Lake City as the Jayhawks moved to 12-7 (2-6 Big 12) on the year.
S'Mya Nichols led the Jayhawks with 26 points, while
Laia Conesa added 11 points and a career-high eight rebounds. KU is 2-5 in the month of January and just finished off a stretch of four-straight games against the four new members of the Big 12.

For the 13th time this season, Nichols topped the 20-point mark as she led the Jayhawks with 26 points in the Utah game. Nichols is the No. 2 leading scorer in the Big 12 and No. 11 nationally, averaging 21.0 points per game. Her 13 20-point games is tied for the sixth-most in a single season at Kansas, matching the mark of three former Jayhawks, most recently
Zakiyah Franklin during the 2023-24 season.

Kansas women's basketball has not had a player average more than 20 points per game for an entire season since Danielle McCray scored 21.6 points on average during the 2008-09 season.

Laia Conesa set new career highs with three made three-pointers and eight rebounds as she scored 11 points for the third-straight game at Utah. She has scored in double figures eight times this season and has now raised her scoring average to 7.3 points per game, which ranks fourth on the team.

Regan Williams has started all 19 games as a freshman and ranks as KU's third-leading scorer at 8.4 points per game while leading the Jayhawks with 5.2 rebounds per game. Williams has recorded two double-doubles this season and was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week on Dec. 9.

Elle Evans has scored in double figures 14 times in her first season as a Jayhawk, and she's KU's No. 2 leading scorer at 14.4 points per game. She is shooting 40.4 percent (44-109) from long range and set a season-high with 28 points at Colorado on Jan. 11.

Saturday's contest will be the eighth all-time meeting between Kansas and Houston in a series dating back to 1991. The Jayhawks have an unblemished 7-0 record against the Cougars all-time, including a 3-0 mark against UH in Houston, most recently with an 89-69 victory on Dec. 22, 2009. Last season, the Jayhawks hosted the Cougars during their first season in the league and KU claimed a 69-52 victory on Feb. 8, 2024, at Allen Fieldhouse.

Houston enters the contest with a 5-14 (1-7 Big 12) record that includes a 79-76 upset victory over then-No. 24 Oklahoma State on Jan. 14 in Houston. The Cougars are the lowest scoring team in the conference, averaging 59.8 points per game, with three players scoring in double figures. Laila Blair leads UH with 12.3 points per game, followed by Gigi Cooke (11.9) and Eylia Love (11.1).
