LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawks are set to host the 132nd installment of the Dillons Sunflower Showdown as No. 11 Kansas State travels east to Lawrence on Sunday, Feb. 2.
Tipoff from Allen Fieldhouse is set for 2 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Josh Klingler (play-by-play) and
Wayne Simien (analyst) on the call. Fans can also listen to the game on the Jayhawk Radio Network from Learfield, with Steven Davis and David Lawrence calling the action.
Kansas has won its last two games following a 57-50 home victory over Texas Tech on Wednesday night at Allen Fieldhouse.
S'Mya Nichols led the Jayhawks with 20 points, going 10-of-11 from the free throw line, which included a 7-of-7 mark in the last five minutes. Backing her performance was
Regan Williams with 14 points and
Laia Conesa with 10.
Nichols reached the 20-point mark for the 14th time during her sophomore season with 20 points against Texas Tech. The Big 12's No. 2 leading scorer, Nichols is No. 16 in the nation, averaging 20.7 points per game, and she enters Sunday's contest 57 points away from becoming the 33rd player in program history to score 1,000 points while wearing a Kansas uniform.
Conesa scored in double figures for the fifth straight game as she finished with 10 points and five rebounds against Texas Tech. Conesa is fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 7.6 points per game while shooting 85.7 percent (36-42) from the free throw line.
Regan Williams contributed 14 points and four rebounds vs. Texas Tech following her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds at Houston on Jan. 25. Williams has now scored in double figures five times in the past six games and nine times this season. She is the third on the team in scoring at 8.8 points per game, while leading at 5.3 rebounds per game in addition to starting all 21 games as a freshman.
Elle Evans scored seven points and tied her season-high with seven rebounds against Texas Tech. She was held without a three-pointer for only the fourth time this season but remains the team's No. 2 leading scorer at 14.0 points per game. Evans has made 39.2 percent (47-120) of her three-point attempts this season and 83.7 percent (41-49) of her attempts from the free throw line.
Kansas State is 20-2 (8-1 Big 12) on the season following a 87-79 overtime win over Iowa State on Thursday in Manhattan. KSU's two losses came against No. 13 Duke (73-62) on Nov. 25 and Big 12 returner Colorado (63-53) on Jan. 25. The Wildcats average 82.0 points per game as Serena Sundell leads the team with 13.4 points per game, while leading the nation with 161 assists. Temira Poindexter contributes 12.6 points per game for the Wildcats.
Sunday's contest will be the 132nd all-time meeting between Kansas and Kansas State in a series dating back to 1969, the longest-played rivalry in Kansas Women's Basketball history. Kansas has won four-straight against KSU at Allen Fieldhouse, including a 58-55 victory over the then-No. 10 Wildcats on Feb. 25, 2024. Kansas State leads the all-time series 80-51, but the two teams have split the series in each of the past four seasons.

The Jayhawks will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) during the Dillons Sunflower Showdown. NGWSD is an annual day of observance held during the first week of February to acknowledge the accomplishments of female athletes, recognize the influence of sports participation for women and girls, and honor the progress and advocation for equality for women in sports.
