CHICAGO - Kansas goalkeeper
Sophie Dawe has been called up to the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team training camp being held from May 26-June 2 in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Dawe will join 23 other women's soccer athletes from 18 different colleges around the country. The camp will be run by current Seattle Reign FC assistant coach Kate Norton, a long-time U.S. Youth National Teams assistant.
From Memphis, Tennessee, Dawe played in 22 games during her freshman season at Kansas. She amassed 50 saves and completed eight shutouts and had a 12-6-4 record. Dawe was a two-time Big 12 Freshman of the Week selection and she was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the Big 12 Tournament while also earning a spot on the Big 12 All-Tournament Team. Additionally, Dawe was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Second Team.
While the USA is also competing in the 2025 Concacaf Women's U-20 Championship in Costa Rica during this FIFA window with a team of players born in 2006 and 2007, this squad of players heading to Georgia were all born in 2005, making them too old for the next FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. To that end, this programming for the 2005s will allow 24 top college-aged players to continue their growth in the U.S. WNT programs with hopes of moving along the pathway to U.S. U-23 WNT and beyond.
