LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas soccer junior
Caroline Castans received her second career Big 12 weekly honor as she was chosen as the Big 12 Defender of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.Â
A native of Flower Mound, Texas, Castans helped the Jayhawks stay unbeaten with a 1-0 record last week, as Kansas defeated Oklahoma State 1-0 in the Big 12 opener. Castans scored the lone goal in the win for the Jayhawks. She currently leads Kansas in assists this season with five, and is second on the team in points with nine. She also is tied for third in the Big 12 in assists this season.
This marks the second time that Castans has been named the Big 12 Defender of the Week in her career. She was chosen last season on Oct. 28, 2024.Â
Kansas remained unbeaten on the season at 7-0-2 while opening conference play 1-0 with the victory at OSU. KU's current nine-match unbeaten streak is the longest such streak to begin a season in program history.Â
