Â
Junior Dominic Voegele started the game and tossed a quality start with six innings and two runs. He struck out four Cowboys and allowed only two hits. Senior Toby Scheidt, a transfer from Bryant, threw two scoreless innings of relief and recorded three strikeouts, while redshirt junior Manning West pitched a scoreless ninth inning with a strikeout.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• For the second time this season, Bach led off the game with a home run. On the second pitch of the contest, he sent a ball out to left-center field. That gave Kansas an early 1-0 lead.
• Kansas (3-2) would tack on two more runs in the third inning and one in the fourth. LeBlanc hit an RBI groundout and Brady Ballinger scored on a wild pitch. Then, in the fourth inning, Ballinger hit an RBI double. That stretched the lead to 4-0.
• Both teams found runs in the fifth inning. Max Soliz Jr. hit an RBI single to give Kansas a 5-0 advantage in the fifth.
• McNeese (2-3) scored its only two runs of the game on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. The two runs made it a 5-2 ballgame.
• Kansas got those two runs back right away in the top of the sixth. LeBlanc hit a towering two-run homer over the scoreboard in left-center field to push the lead back to five runs.
• The Jayhawks added four insurance runs in the top of the ninth to put the game out of reach. Soliz had an RBI double, Baldridge and Soliz scored on wild pitches and Dariel Osoria hit a sacrifice fly. The 11-2 score is where the game ultimately ended.

QUOTABLES & NOTABLES
"I thought Dom was great with 83 pitches through six. He had another inning in him for sure. He scattered just the two hits with a couple untimely walks in there and McNeese did a really nice job of spoiling two strikes. His stuff was great and I thought he did a really nice job of lengthening the game for us. Then, Toby was fantastic. Three punchouts in two innings with no walks and I thought Manning was great slamming the door." – Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald
Â
"It's hard because when you have games like Wednesday you need to address it, but at the same time we had 14 runners on base. There's a little bit of like how much of baseball is the ball drops versus it doesn't. It's early, and early in the season you see all kinds of things. I like our guys' approach and I like that we're getting in those situations, but we did it again early in this game. We left a couple of runs on the board. I think it's a really long season and addressing these things in real time is super important because the same situations happen over and over and over." – Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald
Â
• Kansas improved to 3-2 overall on the season.
• Kansas scored a season-high 11 runs.
• Kansas had a season-high five extra-base hits.
• LeBlanc hit his first home run of the season.
• Bach blasted his second homer of the year and his second to leadoff a game.
• Voegele earned his first win of the season.
