Kansas Swim and Dive Earns Three Personal Bests at Day Four of Big 12 Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Jayhawks completed day four of the Big 12 Championship at the Greensboro Aquatic Center with three lifetime best times and continued to add to their team point total.

In the 200-yard butterfly preliminaries, sophomore Maya Lambert earned a spot in the B final with a time of 2:00.96, joined by freshman Sammy Cummins (2:01.00). Anna Gearhart posted a 2:03.30 to qualify for the C final.
Junior Ryan Johnston advanced to the B final in the 100-yard breaststroke, while senior Molly Robinson qualified for the C final in the event.

In the 100-yard backstroke preliminaries, senior Lydia Lafferty touched the wall in 53.50 to move on to the B final, and junior Bradie Ward (55.21) secured a place in the C final.

During the evening finals, Lambert recorded a lifetime-best 2:00.78 to finish 12th in the 200-yard butterfly. Cummins placed 14th (2:01.94), and Gearhart finished 22nd (2:02.85).

Johnston placed ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a personal-record 1:00.26 as well as qualifying for the NCAA Standard. Senior Caroline Blake followed with a lifetime-best 1:01.98 to place 19th, while Robinson finished 24th (1:03.56).

Lafferty and Ward placed ninth and 21st, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 53.50 and 55.21.
In the final event of the day, Caroline Blake, freshman Sarah Blake, sophomore Sophie Wallace and Lafferty combined for a time of 1:31.99 in the 200-yard freestyle relay to place seventh.

The final day of the Big 12 Championship begins Saturday with preliminaries at 9 a.m. CT and finals at 5 p.m. CT. Diving preliminaries will begin at 11:30 a.m. CT, followed by finals alongside the swimming events.
