Get to Know Lydia ...
At what age did you start swimming and how did you get into the sport?
- I started swimming when I was 12 because my mom signed me up for tryouts and I ended up falling in love with the sport.
- I only get breakfast burritos when I go to Fuzzy’s.
- I would run track and field. I enjoy swimming because of the individual nature of the sport and I think track and field is very similar in that aspect.

2023-24Â (Sophomore)
- All-Big 12 Second Team selection.
- Named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team.
- Led the Kansas squad in the 50-yard butterfly, 100-yard butterfly and sat second in the 100-yard IM this season.
- Earned a personal best in 100-yard fly (53.76) at the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship (Feb. 27) en route to a seventh place finish. Also recorded a personal best in the 50-yard fly (23.77) at the championship.
- Won the 100-yard fly four times including the first three meets – Sunflower Showdown (Oct. 6), Illinois (Oct. 14), Lindenwood/South Dakota (Oct. 20-21) and Rockhurst (Dec. 2).
- Finished second in the 100-yard fly at Iowa State (Feb. 9) and in the 100-yard backstroke against Rockhurst (Dec. 2).Â
2022-23 (Freshman)
- Placed first in the 100-yard butterfly (55.73) versus Lindenwood/South Dakota on Oct. 21.
- Placed first in the 100-yard butterfly (55.66) versus Iowa State on Feb. 3.
