Jaliya Davis was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week on Monday.

Davis has now won the award in six straight weeks, which matches the conference record for consecutive Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors. She swept the award in the month of January and has claimed each honor since returning from injury on New Year's Day. With six consecutive awards, Davis equals the previous mark of Ayoka Lee of Kansas State, who claimed the honor six straight times in January-February 2020.

Davis led the Jayhawks to a 2-0 record last week with home wins over BYU and Cincinnati. She recorded her first career double-double with 28 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in the 81-60 victory over BYU on Wednesday night. Davis followed that performance with 28 points and eight rebounds in an 80-71 win over Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon. For the week, Davis averaged a double-double of 28.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 75.0 percent (21-28) from the field and 77.8 percent (14-18) from the free throw line. Davis added three assists, two steals and two blocked shots.

A McDonald's All-American and product of Blue Valley North High School, Davis is the only freshman in the nation with four or more games of 28+ points in conference play. The Overland Park, Kansas, native is averaging 21.9 points per game for the year, which ranks second among freshman nationally. Davis is the second-leading scorer in the Big 12 during conference play with 22.9 points per game and she leads the conference in field goal percentage, hitting 65.2 percent from the field. Davis has scored at least 10 points in all 15 games of her career, with 20+ points in five of the past six games and 11 times overall.

As the Big 12 Freshman of the Week, Davis is included as a member of the Big 12 Women's Basketball Starting Five, which is voted on by a media panel to recognize strong performances from across the conference. In addition to six Freshman of the Week honors, Davis also earned a spot on the Big 12 Starting Five on Nov. 10.

Kansas (15-10, 5-8 Big 12) has won four of its last six games and returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 10, with a trip to Lubbock, Texas, to face No. 18 Texas Tech. The Jayhawks are back at home to host Houston on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 4 p.m. CT. Both of those games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
