ATLANTA, Ga. – Two-time All-American, Junior
Shiyun Lai completed the 2026 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championship with an eighth-place finish on the 1-meter dive and a fifth-place finish on the 3-meter, scoring 299.05 and 342.05 points respectively in the events.
"Shiyun did an incredible job representing our program on both boards against the best," says head coach
Clark Campbell. "She placed about the same as last year, but the competitive level was much higher. Coach Allen has her preparation dialed in and Shiyun is improving each year."
"Shiyun has had a very challenging semester since January, facing several setbacks," head diving coach
Allen Feng added. "However, she has shown remarkable resilience in returning to the highest level, and here we are. This is exactly what defines a high-level competitor. I am confident these experiences will be invaluable in making her an even better athlete. We are beyond proud of her."
Thursday morning's preliminaries saw Lai head into the finals with an overall eighth place standing where she would land again, nationally in the finals with 299.05 points, gaining her first All-American honor.
In Friday's 3-meter dive, Lai earned fifth in the prelims and finals with an additional All-American title, tallying 342.05 points to beat her own previous, NCAA set record of second-best performance by a Jayhawk in the event since Michelle Rojohn placed first in the 3-meter at 1996's NCAA Championship.
As a sophomore, Lai posted a seventh-place finish (309.10) in the 1-meter dive and sixth (357.04) in the 3-meter, obtaining her first duo of First Team All-American awards.
