Â
Kansas has matched its best 10-game start to Big 12 play in program history and has won seven of its last eight Big 12 games. The Jayhawks improved to 20-10 overall this season and 7-3 in conference play. KU has also won 10 of its last 12 games overall.
Â
Trailing 12-9 heading to the bottom of the ninth, Tyson Owens, Max Soliz Jr. and Dylan Schlotterback each hit solo home runs to tie the game at 12-12. Owens and Soliz Jr. hit back-to-back moonshots into the night sky to bring the Jayhawks within a run. Then, Schlotterback hit a line drive game-tying home run to left field to knot it up at 12. LeBlanc's home run to win the game was hit to right field just over the wall and out of reach from the right fielder.
Â
Thursday's game was back-and-forth all night with seven ties and eight lead changes. By the end of it, the Jayhawks found a way to win it.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Utah (16-11, 5-5 Big 12) got out to a lead in the top of the first inning on a leadoff solo homer by Luke Jacobs.
• Kansas (20-10, 7-3 Big 12) matched the first inning run with an RBI single from Cade Baldridge. At the end of the first, the game was tied 1-1.
• The Utes took the lead back in the top of the second on a Jet Gilliam solo home run. That made it 2-1 Utah.
• The Jayhawks tied the game again in the bottom half of the second on a two-out RBI double by Jordan Bach.
• KU was able to take the lead for the first time in the third inning. Augusto Mungarrieta connected on a two-run homer over the batter's eye. That gave the Jayhawks a 4-2 lead.
• The Utes took the lead back with four runs in the fourth inning. Utah led 6-4 midway through the fourth.
• Kansas tied the game once again in the bottom of the fourth. Baldridge delivered an RBI single and Brady Ballinger hit a sacrifice fly to make it 6-6.
• The fifth inning had both teams scoring once again. Utah brought in a run on a wild pitch. Then, Kansas answered with three runs on a Josh Dykhoff RBI single and a Tyson LeBlanc two-run double. Kansas led 9-7 at the end of five innings.
• The Utes pulled ahead again in the seventh on a two-run shot by Gilliam and an RBI single by Blake Eckerle. At the seventh inning stretch, Utah led 10-9.
• Utah added two more runs in the eighth inning to make it a 12-9 ballgame.
• Kansas erased the three runs in the bottom of the ninth with four home runs and a five-run effort to win it 14-12.

QUOTABLES & NOTABLES
"There was complete and total belief that we were going to walk them off in the ninth, which is awesome. Obviously, we need to play better. We didn't play great tonight, but I would take belief, fight, grit, toughness and all of the other words you can come up with to describe it. I'd take that over a lot of things. Gutty, gutty win. What can you say? This Utah team is really good and extremely offensive and we obviously needed every single one of those runs. What a night." – Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald
Â
"Oh wow. Right there my job was easy. I just had to follow up all of the big hits that my teammates had before. That was amazing. That was probably one of the greatest games I've ever been a part of." – Tyson LeBlanc
Â
"Fitz always preaches keep the dugout energy up the whole game. Tonight, it was amazing. Even when we went down late, I think that was the eighth inning where they tacked on a few runs, energy didn't diminish. It was still there. I watched a good bit of games last year, so I saw what the offense was capable of dong in the late innings and we're showing it right now." – Tyson LeBlanc
