
Jayhawks in 12th Following Opening Round of NCAA Regionals

ATHENS, Ga. – The Kansas men's golf team sits in 12th place after the first round of the NCAA Athens Regional, which was played Monday at the University of Georgia Golf Course.Â
Kansas recorded a team score of 292, which is 8-over par for the first 18 holes. Louisville leads the field after a 10-under opening round score, followed by Auburn and Vanderbilt tied for second at 7-under. BYU at is in fourth at 6-under par, while Georgia rounds out the top five at 5-under.
"As a team, we didn't get off to a good start. However, Arthur was solid and finished at even par, and Will King birdied his last hole to finish at 1-under." Kansas coach Jamie Bermel said following the round. "We have two more days and we need everyone playing well."
Senior Will King led the way for the Jayhawks in Monday's round, carding a team-low 70 (-1) as he sits inside the top 20 individually. King finished off the day strong by carding four birdies throughout the round, three of which came during his final six holes.
Freshman Arthur Carlier put together an impressive performance in his first NCAA Regionals appearance. Carlier recorded three birdies on the day to help him card a 71 (E), as he sits inside the top 30 individually.Â
Sophomore Hartej Grewal finished the day with a score of 74 (+3) and is tied for 52nd place after round one.
Senior Luke Honner and junior Will Baker both finished the day with a score of 77 (+6) and the duo sits tied for 68th place.
