LAWRENCE, Kan. – Five members of the Kansas Baseball team earned Academic All-District Team honors, as
Cade Baldridge,
Kannon Carr,
Josh Dykhoff,
Tyson LeBlanc and
Boede Rahe were named to the team by College Sport Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.
The Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The selection process is through CSC, which is a national association for strategic, creative and digital communicators across intercollegiate athletics in the United States and Canada.
To qualify for the Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Also, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the team's games or start in at least 66 percent of the team's contests. The requirement for pitchers was either 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched.
Baldridge, a junior second baseman, is in his first season at Kansas after playing two years at Cowley County CC. He started the first 17 games of the season in center field, before moving to second base, where he started the next 43 games. An All-Big 12 Second Team and Big 12 All-Tournament Team selection, Baldridge ranks second on the team with a .320 batting average and 81 hits, while contributing 14 doubles and seven home runs. A native of Roff, Oklahoma, Baldridge has a 3.79 GPA while majoring in liberal arts & sciences.
Carr, a senior pitcher, is in his second season with the Jayhawks after playing his first two years at Jefferson College. This season, Carr made five midweek starts and 17 relief appearances, and he holds a 3-2 record with one save and a 4.97 ERA in 44.0 innings of action. From Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Carr has maintained a 3.91 GPA while majoring in accounting.
Dykhoff, a senior first baseman, chose to play at Kansas for his final season after playing his first three years at Minnesota Crookston. Dykhoff has appeared in 60 games this season, making 56 starts at first base. The All-Big 12 Second Team selection ranks third on the team with a batting average of .295 and 16 home runs, while ranking second on the squad with 56 RBIs. Hailing from Bluffton, Minnesota, Dykhoff has a 3.67 GPA with a liberal arts & sciences major.
LeBlanc, a junior shortstop, is in the midst of a historic season at KU following two years at LSU Eunice. One of three players to appear in all 61 games this season, LeBlanc was named an All-Big 12 First Team selection and has followed that with Most Outstanding Player selections for both the Big 12 Tournament and the first ever Lawrence Regional. LeBlanc broke KU's single season home run record and enters the Lawrence Super Regional with 24 homers, while also leading the team with a .344 batting average, 63 runs scored, 85 hits and 68 RBIs. A native of Maurice, Louisiana, LeBlanc is a pre-business major who has a 3.66 GPA.
Rahe, a redshirt junior pitcher, has had a stellar first season at Kansas after spending three seasons at Kirkwood Community College. An All-Big 12 First Team selection, Rahe leads the Big 12 with 11 saves, which is tied for sixth most in a season in KU history. He's the first Jayhawk with double-digit saves since 2021. In 30 appearances on the mound, he has a 6-1 record with a 4.02 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 56.0 innings of work. The Marion, Iowa, native has a 3.95 GPA while majoring in civil engineering.
Kansas (45-16) will host the first ever Lawrence Super Regional this weekend against Oklahoma. Games will be played Saturday, Sunday and Monday (if necessary) at Hoglund Ballpark.
