Tyson LeBlanc was named the NCBWA District 6 Co-Player of the Year. LeBlanc is the first Kansas player in school history to receive an NCBWA District Player of the Year honor.
An All-Big 12 First Team selection, LeBlanc is one of two Jayhawks to start all 61 games this season. He has hit .344 with 85 hits, including 12 doubles, three triples and 24 home runs. LeBlanc has driven in 68 RBIs and scored 63 runs this year.
He currently leads the team in home runs (24), RBI (68), batting average (.344), hits (85), total bases (175), runs (63), slugging percentage (.708), on-base percentage (.430) and stolen bases (11). LeBlanc is second in the Big 12 in hits, fourth in home runs (tied for ninth nationally) and total bases (tied for eighth nationally), tied for seventh in RBI, tied for ninth in runs and is ninth in slugging percentage.
LeBlanc has already broken the program's single-season home run record. His homer in the Lawrence Regional opener broke the single-season individual and team home run records. LeBlanc is second in KU history in total bases and sixth in RBI.
This season, LeBlanc has been named a Dick Howser Trophy Semifinalist, the Big 12 Baseball Tournament Most Outstanding Player, a Big 12 All-Tournament Team selection, the Lawrence Regional Most Outstanding Player, a Lawerence Regional All-Tournament Team recipient and the NCBWA Hitter of the Month for May.
Over the last 11 games, LeBlanc has hit .409/.519/1.000 (18-for-44), with two doubles, eight home runs, 18 RBIs, 14 runs and 10 walks. He has hit safely in all 11 of those games. The 11-game stretch has included his Most Outstanding Player awards for the Big 12 Tournament and Lawrence Regional.
Kansas (45-16) will play in its first Super Regional and host the first ever Lawrence Super Regional this weekend at Hoglund Ballpark. The Jayhawks will face Oklahoma in a best-of-three series, beginning on Saturday at 5 p.m. CT on ESPN2. The winner will move on to play in the College World Series next weekend.
