LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas softball head coach
Jennifer McFalls announced the addition of four transfer student-athletes to the 2026-27 roster on Thursday, including Grace Thompson, Sienna Mayer, Jazmin Ramirez and Timber Hensley.
"We are excited about the addition of our incoming transfer class," McFalls said. "They are a very talented group and add quality depth and increase the strength of our infield defense."
All four additions will join the Jayhawks for the 2026-27 season. The Jayhawks are coming off their most successful season under McFalls, which resulted in a 36-21 (14-10 Big 12) record and the program's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2015.
Grace Thompson
Graduate | Infield/Utility | Beaumont, Texas | West Brook HS | Ole Miss
Thompson joins Kansas after spending four seasons at Ole Miss, where she appeared in 63 career games for the Rebels. A left-handed hitting infielder, Thompson started 29 games and finished the 2026 season batting .222 in 72 at bats. Thompson scored 9 runs and 16 hits, 12 RBIs, while registering two home runs and four doubles. During the 2025 season, Thompson hit a career-high .294 batting average in 17 at bats, starting 14 games for the Rebels.
Prior to her collegiate career, Thompson was one of the nation's top middle infield prospects, ranked No. 28 overall and No. 19 among middle infielders by Extra Inning Softball. A three-time all-district selection at West Brook High School, she was named District Newcomer of the Year and produced a standout prep career at the plate. Thompson hit .627 with 37 RBIs and 10 home runs as a freshman, followed by a .551 average with 34 RBIs as a sophomore and a .576 average with 39 RBIs and 10 home runs as a junior. She also earned academic honors throughout her high school career.
Sienna Mayer
Sophomore | Infield/Utility | El Segundo, Calif. | El Segundo HS | North Texas
Mayer joins Kansas after spending her freshman season at North Texas. An infielder from El Segundo, California, Mayer started 12 games, while appearing in 25 for the Mean Green. In 40 at bats, Mayer had a .350 batting average with 15 hits, 10 runs and 3 RBIs. In the field, Mayer recorded a 97.1% fielding percentage with 21 putouts and 13 assists.
Mayer was a four-year letterwinner at El Segundo High School and established herself as one of the nation's top infield prospects. She earned two All-CIF Southern Section selections and was named a Cal-Hi Sports First Team All-State selection as a senior after receiving Second Team All-State honors as a junior. Mayer was also named the 2025 Daily Breeze South Bay Player of the Year and earned First Team All-League honors three times during her prep career. Ranked as the No. 18 overall prospect in the Extra Inning Softball Elite 100 for the Class of 2025, Mayer competed internationally as a four-time member of Team Netherlands at the Triple Crown International Challenge. She played travel ball for the BSC Bengals and head coach Ken Briggs.
Jazmin Ramirez
Sophomore | Infield/Utility | Chandler, Ariz. | Hamilton HS | Utah State
Ramirez joins Kansas after her freshman season at Utah State, where she started in all 53 games. Ramirez led Utah State with a .313 batting average with 47 hits in 150 at bats, while scoring 22 runs, 21 RBIs, 22 doubles and five home runs. Ramirez recorded a 98.6% fielding percentage with 209 putouts and 73 assists on the season. Ramirez recorded multiple-hit performances against Hawaii, San José State and Colorado State, including a four-RBI outing against the Rams.
Ramirez was a three-year letterwinner at Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona. She helped lead the Huskies to an Arizona 6A state runner-up finish in 2022 and a top-four state finish in 2024. Ramirez earned all-district and all-section honors as a pitcher and was named her team's Most Valuable Player in 2023. During her prep career, she batted .333 with 11 home runs and 61 RBIs while posting a 2.72 ERA with 248 strikeouts in the circle. Ramirez also starred on the travel-ball circuit with Arizona Storm and Top Gun, helping her teams to top-10 finishes at PGF Nationals while earning PGF All-American honors and Extra Inning Softball All-Summer Team recognition.
Timber Hensley
Sophomore | Infield/Utility | Durant, Okla. | Silo HS | Texas Tech
Hensley joins Kansas after her freshman season at Texas Tech, where she appeared in seven games, serving mainly as a pinch runner. Hensley recorded runs against San Diego State, UC Riverside, Abilene Christian and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Hensley also recorded an assist from the infield against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
Hensley helped lead her team to six state championships - three in fast pitch in 2021, 2022 and 2023 and three in slow pitch in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Hensley earned all-county and all-state honors as a pitcher and was named a 2025 Oklahoma fast pitch All-American. During her prep career, she batted .429 with 17 doubles and 18 RBIs while posting a 1.36 ERA and 247 strikeouts in the circle. She played travel ball for the Hotshots and head coach Ed Naudin.
