Will Baker Among the Field at the 126th U.S. Amateur

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas senior men's golfer Will Baker is one of 312 golfers who will compete in the 126th U.S. Amateur Championship, which will be played August 10-16 at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.

Baker earned his spot in the U.S. Amateur Championship by finishing as the co-medalist at a qualifier held in West Palm Beach, Florida, on July 22. A native of Statham, Georgia, Baker is set to be a senior at Kansas in 2026-27. He joined the Jayhawks for the 2025-26 season after playing his first two collegiate campaigns at Clemson. In his first year with KU, Baker appeared in 11 tournaments and ranked second on the team with a 71.1 stroke average in 33 rounds of competition. He had three top five individual finishes, including a personal best as he tied for second at the Quail Valley Invitational last October in Vero Beach, Florida.

The U.S. Amateur Championship opens with two rounds of 18-hole stroke play, one each day on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 10-11. From there, the top 64 golfers advance to match play, which begins with the first round on Wednesday, Aug. 12. The bracket style match play continues with two rounds on Aug. 13, followed by the quarterfinals on Aug. 14 and the semifinals on Aug. 15. The two remaining golfers advance to play in a 36-hole championship match on Sunday, Aug. 16.

Each day of the match play will be televised on Peacock and NBC Sports Network, with live coverage on Wednesday-Friday from 2-5 p.m. CT. The weekend television schedule includes streaming on Peacock from 2-3 p.m. CT followed by coverage on NBC from 3-5 p.m. CT both days.
