Stanley, Messer Earn Big 12 Weekly Honors

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Freshman pin hitter Taylor Stanley and sophomore setter Reese Messer were named Big 12 Rookie and Setter of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. The awards mark the first of both their careers.
In the Jayhawk's 3-0 week, both Messer and Stanley started all three matches.
Stanley became the fastest freshman in program history to reach the 100-kill milestone since the start of the 25-point rally kill era, doing so in just seven matches. She led the nation with 7.1 points per set and recorded double-digit kills in all three matches including a 20 kill performance against then-undefeated Tulsa. The Overland Park native recorded 51 kills and 5.67 kills/set. She added a team-best eight service aces in addition to 22 digs and nine blocks.
