Stanley Named Big 12 Rookie and Offensive Player of the Week

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Freshman pin hitter Taylor Stanley was named Big 12 Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. The award marks the second of her career and the second-straight week as Rookie of the Week. Reese Messer was also named to the Big 12 Starting Seven.
Taylor Stanley led the No. 19 Kansas Jayhawks through another 3-0 week with wins over Wichita State, Ole Miss and Grand Canyon. She led the Jayhawks with 48 kills and 5.33 kills per set on a .456 attack percentage.
Stanley leads the Big 12 with 199.5 points and 5.70 points per set and ranks second with 4.74 kills per set.
Sophomore setter Reese Messer was named to the Big 12 Starting Seven. She averaged 13.17 assists per set in a pair of matches against Ole Miss and Grand Canyon.
Stanley, Messer and the Jayhawks open Big 12 Conference play on Friday at 6 p.m. CT when they host the Houston Cougars in Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena.
