LAWRENCE, Kan. – Taylor Stanley was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Player of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.
It is the first national player of the week nod for Stanley and the sixth all-time for Kansas volleyball. She is the first Jayhawk to earn the honor since Kelsie Payne in 2016.
Taylor Stanley led the No. 19 Kansas Jayhawks through another 3-0 week with wins over Wichita State, Ole Miss and Grand Canyon. She led the Jayhawks with 48 kills and 5.33 kills per set on a .456 attack percentage.
Stanley leads the Big 12 and is fourth nationally in points per set at 5.70 and is second in the conference and fifth in the country with 4.74 kills per set. The freshman has tallied double-digit kills in every match this season and was the fastest freshman in the modern rally-scoring era to reach 100 kills, doing so in just seven matches.
Stanley and the KU squad open Big 12 Conference play on Friday at 6 p.m. CT when they host the Houston Cougars in Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena.
