Kansas Volleyball Opens Big 12 Play on Friday Night Against Houston

LAWRENCE, Kan. - No. 19 Kansas (7-3) will open Big 12 conference play on Friday, hosting the Houston Cougars (7-4) on the newly-named Ray Bechard Court at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena. First serve is set for 6 p.m. CT, and fans can watch on ESPN+.

Both teams enter Friday on winning streaks. The Jayhawks have won their last six matches, claiming sweeps in each one and beginning Big 12 play having won 18-straight sets. Houston has won back-to-back matches, a 3-2 win over Texas State and a sweep of Houston Christian.

Kansas leads the all-time series 4-1, having taken four wins in a row over the Cougars since 2023, when Houston joined the Big 12 Conference. The Jayhawks swept Houston last season at the Fertitta Center.

Kansas is coming off of a pair of home wins against Grand Canyon and Ole Miss in the Jayhawk Classic, while Reese Messer and Taylor Stanley secured Big 12 Weekly Awards.

Following Friday's match, the Jayhawks will travel to Lubbock, Texas for a matchup with Texas Tech on Sunday, Sept. 27.
