TICKET OFFICE: SALES
The Associate AD - Ticket Operations is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day sale of tickets to athletic events and ensuring that applicable University and Kansas Athletics’ regulations are followed. A computer program is used to accurately record and control reserved and general admission ticket sales. Kansas Athletics charges admission for competitive events for the sports of football, soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, softball, baseball, and certain special events.
Quality customer service is the Ticket Office’s primary objective. Ticket patrons shall be treated with courtesy and respect at all times, with in-person ticket sales given priority over telephone orders. In the event that difficult situations arise, the employee should consult with a supervisor to resolve the problem.
For additional Ticket Office information, see Policies 408A, C and D in this Manual.
Ticket Prices
Price structures for tickets to athletic events are established and reviewed by the Director of Athletics, after consultation with the Deputy AD External Affairs & Revenue. Proposed changes are based on several factors, including ticket demand, facility seating, strength of schedule, prior win/loss record, comparable institutions’ price structures, economic climate, and revenue demand.
Season Tickets may be paid for with checks or credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, Discover, or American Express). Single game tickets may be paid for with credit cards (American Express, Discover, Mastercard, or Visa) All taxes & fees shall be assessed to all ticket orders.
Ticket Applications
Season ticket applications are posted in online accounts for previous season ticket holders, Williams Education Fund active donors and University faculty and staff. Football applications are posted no later than February, with an April priority deadline. All season tickets and parking passes are digital and posted to online accounts no later than two (2) weeks prior to the first game.
Season ticket applications for men’s and women’s basketball are posted in online accounts on or before March each year, with a priority deadline in April. All season tickets and parking passes are digital and posted to online accounts no later than two (2) weeks prior to the season’s first game. Conference Tournament and NCAA Tournament applications are posted in online accounts for qualifying Williams Education members in November. Other sports season ticket applications are generally posted in accounts 4-6 weeks prior to their respective season’s first game.
Processing Ticket Sales
Ticket sales are recorded in the Ticket Office’s Ticket System. The process for handling ticket sales is as follows:
-
The sale is initiated through on-line, phone conversation, or in-person contact.
-
Phone and window sales orders are processed at the time of the sale.
-
Applications are numbered or identified with the appropriate customer account numbers.
-
Season ticket applications are entered into the Ticket System for proper computation of priority points and assignment of seats according to each sport’s priority system.
-
Seating requests are confirmed before generating tickets.
-
Completed sales are recorded in the Ticket System.
-
Tickets are sent digitally. If the customer has paid the ticket printing fee in advance, tickets for that individual may be, mailed, or held at the “Will Call” window.
-
Transactions are reconciled and funds are deposited at the close of the day.
Sale & Re-Sale Policy
Purchasing KU tickets for athletic events is a privilege, not a right.
Ticket holders (Williams Education Fund, students, and general public) may transfer or occasionally post for sale their tickets electronically on the Kansas Athletics website through the Paciolan ticketing system. Season ticket purchasers found selling more than 50% of their season tickets will have their account classified as a ticket broker and lose access to their season tickets for the current season without refund. They will also be restricted from purchasing any future tickets.
Non-season ticket holders who engage in the practice of reselling tickets may also jeopardize their privilege of purchasing tickets in the future.
Faculty/Staff may transfer their tickets electronically but shall not post for sale or receive value in exchange for such tickets. If faculty/staff tickets are posted for sale or exchanged for something of value, Athletics reserves the right to void such tickets and prohibit the faculty or staff member from getting tickets in the future.
The resale of tickets on University of Kansas property is prohibited.
Deposit of Funds
Revenue from ticket sales is logged on the computer file and transmitted at the end of each business day to the Business Office. (See Policy 402, Receipt, Custody and Deposit of University Funds for additional information.)
Ticket Sales Reports
Ticket sales reports are prepared by the Chief Financial Officer at regular intervals prior to the event and submitted to the Director of Athletics. Final sales reports for football and men’s basketball are produced after each event and submitted to the Chief Financial Officer and other Kansas Athletics administrators as the Chief Financial Officer and/or the Director of Athletics may direct.
