Get to Know Carla ...
What is the significance behind your jersey number?- My number has sentimental value because I wore the number 16 when I first started playing and from that year on everything started to get better. I feel that it is my lucky and special number.
Who was your favorite player growing up? Who did you emulate your game after?
- I didn't used to watch much basketball. I only watched the seniors in my club play, so I tried to copy the things I liked to be like them one day in the future.
- I am a very versatile player and capable of playing and defending different positions. I like to run the court and shoot threes when I play outside. When I play inside I take advantage of my agility over my opponents.
- I don't have a specific role model, but I do have a coach who taught me how to play basketball and helped me improve year by year. Without his confidence and opportunities, I wouldn't be the player I am today.
Why did you choose KU?
-
I chose KU because from the moment they contacted me they gave me a lot of confidence. Their values fit perfectly with mine and they had a concept of basketball that I really liked. One of the most important requirements to me was the team being a family both on and off the court. Every day I spoke with them it became clearer that this was my place and I think it was the best decision I could have made.
