Connor Wexter is in his first year at Kansas after joining Matt Ulmer’s staff as an associate head coach and recruiting coordinator in February 2026.
Wexter comes to Kansas from James Madison, where he was an assistant coach for two seasons. The Dukes won the 2025 Sun Belt Conference regular season championship after finishing 22-9 overall and 13-3 in conference play, highlighted by a 13-match win streak that tied for the third longest in program history.
Working primarily with the setters, Wexter helped JMU lead the Sun Belt and rank among the nation's top 50 in assists and assists per set in 2025. The Dukes also produced five all-conference selections, the most in a single season in program history, including the Sun Belt Player of the Year and an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, Kennedy Louisell.
Before his time in Harrisonburg, Wexter served as vice president of Method, Opportunity, Drive (MOD) Volleyball, overseeing day-to-day operations for a program that included 79 youth girls and boys teams. He managed seven full-time staff members and helped lead the organization's development and operations.
Wexter spent the 2023 season as a special assistant with Loyola Chicago's women's volleyball program after four seasons as an assistant coach with the Ramblers' men's team from 2016-20. During his tenure, Loyola recorded 80 wins, four AVCA Top 15 finishes and developed multiple All-America honorees. He was also named to the AVCA 30 Under 30 list, which recognizes rising coaches in the profession.
Wexter began his coaching career at his alma mater, Carthage College, serving as a graduate assistant from 2014-16 while earning his master's degree in education. He followed a decorated playing career as a four-year starting setter, earning AVCA All-America honors in all four seasons, including three first team selections. The 2013 Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Year finished his career as Carthage's all-time leader in assists and was later inducted into the Carthage Athletics Hall of Fame.
A native of New Lenox, Ill., Wexter holds a bachelor’s degree from Carthage College. He resides in Lawrence with his wife, former JMU volleyball standout Lizzy Briones.
