John DeFilippo joined the Kansas football staff in 2026 as an offensive analyst working with the Jayhawks' quarterbacks. He brings more than two decades of coaching experience across both the collegiate and professional ranks, including extensive NFL experience as a quarterbacks coach, offensive coordinator, and head coach in the USFL/UFL.

DeFilippo joins Kansas after serving as head coach of the Memphis Showboats in the United Football League (UFL) during the 2024 season. Prior to his time in Memphis, he led the New Orleans Breakers of the USFL, guiding the franchise to a 7-3 record and a playoff appearance in 2023.

Widely regarded as one of football's premier quarterback developers, DeFilippo spent more than a decade coaching in the NFL. His professional stops include the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, and San Francisco 49ers. He has worked with numerous NFL quarterbacks throughout his career, helping develop and mentor players at every stage of their professional careers.

One of the highlights of DeFilippo's coaching career came during the Eagles' Super Bowl LII championship season, when he served as quarterbacks coach and played a key role in the development of Carson Wentz and Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles. The Eagles captured the first Super Bowl title in franchise history following the 2017 season.

In addition to his work as a quarterbacks coach, DeFilippo has held offensive coordinator positions with the Browns, Vikings, and Jaguars and served as passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach with the Bears. His extensive offensive background has earned him a reputation as an innovative teacher and quarterback strategist.

DeFilippo began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Fordham University in 2000 before moving through several collegiate coaching positions. Over more than 25 years in coaching, he has built a reputation for quarterback development, offensive innovation, and leadership at both the collegiate and professional levels.
