Dr. Maya Ozery joined Kansas Athletics in September 2021 as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development. In the Summer of 2024, her role was elevated to the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development and Organizational Engagement. In this capacity, Dr. Ozery is responsible for crafting and implementing a comprehensive suite of programs designed to enhance student-athlete well-being and promote competitive excellence. Also, she serves as the Big 12 Impact Officer group Chair and sport administrator for the Swimming, Diving and Rowing programs.Â
Prior to her tenure at Kansas, Dr. Ozery served as the Executive Director of the Cooper Athletics Leadership Program at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where she established key partnerships with organizations such as ESPNW, Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality (RISE), Athletes for Hope, and Georgetown’s Institute for Transformational Leadership. She developed programs like the Coaches Summit, Coaches Leadership Institute, and the Student-Athletes Leadership Institute. Dr. Ozery also provided oversight as the sport administrator for field hockey, men’s and women’s tennis, and most notably Georgetown’s men’s soccer team to a 2019 NCAA National Championship.Â
As a consultant, Dr. Ozery has worked with the NCAA, the Institute for Sport and Social Justice, and numerous professional sports organizations, university athletic departments, and conference offices, helping to drive growth and development in the world of athletics. Her academic contributions include serving as an adjunct instructor at Georgetown University, where she designed and taught courses on sport, social justice, activism, leadership, and management.
Prior to Georgetown, Ozery served as the Director of Leadership and Development at the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA, and was the Assistant Athletics Director for Academic and Leadership Development at Longwood University.Â
Ozery was selected for the CALS Female Executive Scholarship, Women Leaders Leadership Enhancement Institute, the NCAA Minority Education Series, and the Women Leaders Institute for Advancement.Â
A former member of Israel’s National Women’s Soccer Team and captain of the U-19 team, Dr. Ozery played collegiate soccer at Florida International University and Barry University. She holds a B.S. in Psychology, an M.S. in Sports and Exercise Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership.Â
