Ramon Lopez is in his first year as an assistant sports performance coach at Kansas after joining the staff in February 2026. He works with the Kansas track and field, cross country, and swimming and diving programs.
Prior to coming to KU, Lopez worked as the assistant director of sports performance at Saint Louis for 4.5 years, where he programmed and implemented annual plans for baseball, softball, volleyball, track and field, and swimming and diving. In his final year at SLU, he worked with women's basketball as well.
Lopez also previously worked as a graduate assistant at Western Illinois, earned a master's degree in sports management in 2021. While at WIU, he directed the yearly training programs for men's basketball, women's basketball and baseball while assisting with the football program.
Lopez graduated from DePauw University in 2019 with a BA in kinesiology and was a four-year letterman with the football program. While in school at DePauw, he was also able to gain experience working with the Louisville and Northwestern football programs.
Originally from Saint Charles, Illinois, Lopez resides in Lawrence with his wife Mary, who is the assistant swim coach at KU. He is a member of the NSCA and in his free time he enjoys to golf, cook, and run with his dog, Xena.
