LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas volleyball swept Morehead State in its first match inside the new Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena on Thursday night in the first match of the Kansas Invitational.
The Jayhawks got off to a dominating start in their new home, building a 10-3 lead early in the first set. They would go on to win the set 25-18 after an attacking error by the Eagles sealed the set win.
The second set didn’t come as easy for Kansas, as it became a back-and-forth affair. It was Kansas however who came up with timely plays at the end, scoring four of the final five points to take the two-set lead in the match.
In the final set of the night, the Jayhawks scored the first five points of the match. Kansas won the set handily 25-18 to get its first victory inside the Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena.
Senior Zoe Hill set the pace for the Jayhawks, finishing with a team-best 10 kills. Junior Sara Nielsen lead the way with 24 assists and notched her first career double-double with her team-high 13 digs.

Kansas will host their second match of the Kansas Invitational on Friday night (Sept. 13) against Arizona. The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. inside the Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena and is the first sell out in the new arena.
