
Renovated Allen Fieldhouse Hosts Open House on Oct. 24

LAWRENCE, Kan. – With the completion of the newly renovated Allen Fieldhouse, Kansas fans are welcome to attend an open house on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. CT for an up-close look at the advancements to celebrate its upcoming 70th season.Â
The open house will provide a self-guided tour starting inside the doors of the Booth Hall of Athletics on the south side of the arena where fans will view a revamped modern and accessible layout of the historical building. Signage and athletics staff will be in place throughout the fieldhouse helping event goers stay on route for exclusive access to the content studio, media room, Rock Chalk Video control room, new hospitality spaces, a uniform and shoe display, and more.Â
Kansas Athletics new food and beverage partner OVG Hospitality will set up a small food display with the new menu options that will be available throughout the season. Â
In addition to the tour, fans can see the original rules of basketball, participate in a pop-a-shot activity for a chance to win prizes and learn about ticket opportunities for the 2024-25 season. In-arena Rally House locations will also be open for fans to purchase merchandise during the evening.  Â
Fans can also enter to win a piece of the Allen Fieldhouse court that was just replaced during the renovation project. Â
Throughout the open house, there will be several designated photo opportunities which include:Â
- The upgraded video board and James Naismith court (located on the second level)Â
- The media room backdrop where Coach Self, Coach Schneider and men's and women's basketball players press conferences occurÂ
- Big Jay, Baby Jay and the KU Spirit SquadÂ
- KU Athletics Content Studio sponsored by adidas
With generous funding from Kansas Athletics supporters, the $55 million renovation project's second phase was officially completed in mid-October of 2024, creating a reimagined experience of the historic venue.Â
Those planning on attending the open house can park in Lots 71, 90, 125 and 127 for free anytime past 5 p.m. CT. Parking is also available in the Central District and Allen Fieldhouse Garage with hourly rates applying. Â
