LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas women's cross country team is hitting the road again to compete in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Indiana on Friday, Oct. 4.
The Jayhawks enter the meet with momentum after a strong showing at the Gans Creek Invitational in Columbia, Missouri, Sept. 27, where they recorded more than five top-100 finishes and set five personal bests.
This time, only the women's cross country team will represent the Jayhawks in the women's 5k race, which is slated for 10:30 a.m.
"The women return to racing tomorrow for the first time in a month, and they are excited to compete against a strong field at the Joe Piane meet at Notre Dame," Kansas Distance Coach Michael Whittlesey said. It will be a great test for our front-runners, Kenadi Krueger and Dorcas Kiptanui, who we look forward to lead the team. We're also looking forward to having a solid pack working together to round out our scoring
The Jayhawks will be represented by freshmen Mia Murray and Kaitlyn Swartz, sophomores Laya Erickson, Kiptanui and Abigail Street, junior Tori Wingrove, redshirt-junior Eden Schwarz and super seniors Caroline Horning and Krueger.
Earlier this season, Krueger won the Bob Timmons Classic, Aug. 31, on KU's home course at Rim Rock Farm. Kiptanui placed third at the Bob Timmons.
