The annual Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award, named after the Class of 1995 Hall of Famer and three-time NCAA Champion, celebrates its 11th year by honoring the top centers in Division I men's college basketball.
Following the 2023-24 season, Dickinson was named a 2024 Consensus All-America Second Team, All-Big 12 First Team and the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year selection. The 7-foot-2, 260-pound Alexandria, Virginia native, Dickinson was the only player in the Big 12 to average a double-double (17.9 ppg, 10.9 rpg) last year.
Now in his second year at Kansas after transferring from Michigan, Dickinson has 2,208 career points, 1,148 career rebounds and 196 career blocked shots heading into the 2024-25 season. He has 48 career double-doubles, including 17 at Kansas in 2023-24. Dickinson is the only active player in NCAA Division I to have 2,200 or more career points and 1,100 career rebounds.
Fans can support their favorite player by participating in Fan Voting starting Friday, November 1. In late January, the watch list of 20 players for the 2025 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will be narrowed to 10, and then in late February, to just five. In March, the five finalists will be presented to the Hall of Fame's selection committees, where winners will be selected. The Selection Committees for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award are composed of top men's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers.
The winner of the 2025 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award will be presented on a to-be-determined date, along with the other four members of the Men's and Women's Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Bob Cousy Award (Point Guard), Jerry West (Shooting Guard) and Karl Malone Award (Power Forward).
