No. 1 Kansas to Host UNCW Tuesday

LAWRENCE, Kan. – No. 1 Kansas (4-0) will host UNCW (3-0) on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at Allen Fieldhouse. The contest will start at 7 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPN+.

Kansas is coming off a 78-57 win against Oakland on Nov. 16 in Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks are 4-0 for the fourth-consecutive season and the 11th time in the Bill Self era (since 2003-04). UNCW remained undefeated with an 89-85 win at USC Upstate on Nov. 15. This will be the first meeting between Kansas and UNCW in men's basketball.

With the Nov. 12 win against Michigan State, Kansas head coach Bill Self passed Phog Allen as the winningest coach in KU history. Self is 592-143 in his 22nd season at KU. Phog Allen was 590-129 in 36 seasons on the KU sidelines.

At 799-248, Self is one win from No. 800 for his career. When he reaches the 800-win plateau he will be 16th overall and third active coach to reach 800 wins. He will join Arkansas coach John Calipari and Tennessee coach Rick Barnes.

Kansas is 156-6 (96.3%) in non-conference opponents inside Allen Fieldhouse under Bill Self. The Jayhawks have won their last 17 non-conference games at home beginning No. 7, 2022.

Through four games, Kansas is averaging 34.5 bench points per contest, which is fourth in the Big 12 and 44th nationally. Additionally, Kansas has a 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio which is second in the Big 12 and seventh nationally.

Graduate C Hunter Dickinson leads Kansas in scoring at 18.5 ppg, which is fourth in the Big 12, and rebounding at 9.3 rpg, which is fifth in the conference. Dickinson also leads KU with eight blocked shots and eight steals. Senior G Zeke Mayo is next in scoring at 13.3 points per game and he has made a team-high nine three pointers. Mayo pulls down 6.0 rebounds per contest. Senior F KJ Adams is a starter who averages 10.0 points after his 12 against Oakland (11/16). Junior G AJ Storr is coming off a season-high 16 points versus Oakland ans is also averaging 10.0 points per game. Freshman F Flory Bidunga is scoring 9.0 points per game and is 16-for-20 (80.0%) from the field, while junior G Rylan Griffen has started every game with an 8.0 ppg. Griffen has made eight threes this season. Graduate G Dajuan Harris is also a starter who leads KU with 20 assists to go with his 7.3 ppg. Other KU regulars include senior G David Coit (3.5 ppg, nine assists) and redshirt-junior F Zach Clemence (2.7 ppg). Graduate G Shakeel Moore played his first game of the season, logging five minutes against Oakland with two points and one assist.

Kansas will face fellow blue blood Duke in the Vegas Showdown, Tuesday, Nov. 26, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The contest will start at 8 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPN.

Duke leads the overall series with Kansas, 7-6, but the Jayhawks have defeated the Blue Devils in two of the last three meetings. In the last battle, KU defeated Duke, 69-64, on Nov. 15, 2022, in the Champions Classic in Indianapolis.
