LAWRENCE, Kan. – Four Jayhawks have received All-Big 12 honors, the conference office announced Tuesday. Junior defender
Caroline Castans and senior forward
Lexi Watts were named All-Big 12 First Team selections for a second straight season, while sophomore midfielders
Kate Langfelder and
Jillian Gregorski were All-Big 12 Second Team honorees. Castans was also named Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Under second-year head coach Nate Lie, Kansas has had at least three players receive conference honors and has had two players named to the All-Big 12 First Team in back-to-back years. It is also the first time since 2016 that Kansas had four players earn All-Big 12 accolades.
"One of the things we talk about as a program is that individual recognition usually correlates pretty heavily with team success," Lie said. "We want our players to chase goals – including personal ones – but we believe that they will be most easily accomplished within the framework of team goals. I'm so proud of these four players."Â
Lie continued, "Lexi, Caroline, Jill and Kate are such great representatives of Kansas Soccer, both on and off the field. They are great teammates and stewards of this program, as well as tremendous players who play vital roles in our success. Each one of them is fully deserving of these honors and I am so happy that they were recognized by the conference."
