LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawks will close out non-conference play on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Allen Fieldhouse with a special crosstown matchup against Haskell Indian Nations University.

Wednesday's matchup is 785 Night, and a game dedicated to honoring the heart of the local community and the people who make Lawrence and the surrounding area special. It will mark the first regular season meeting between Kansas and Haskell in women's basketball since 1974. In five previous meetings between the programs, Kansas leads the series 4-1.

Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+, with Josh Klingler (play-by-play) and
Wayne Simien (analyst) on the call. Fans can also listen to the game on the Jayhawk Radio Network from Learfield, with Steven Davis and David Lawrence calling the action.

Kansas won its third-straight game and improved to 9-2 on the year with a 77-38 victory over Denver on Dec. 14. The Jayhawks are now 3-0 in the month of December and 6-0 at home during non-conference play. The win over Denver was also KU's 39th consecutive non-conference home win, dating back to 2020. It was also the largest margin of victory for the Jayhawks in a game this season.

KU was stellar defensively against Denver, holding the Pioneers to 25.0 percent (12-48) shooting from the field. Denver scored more than 10 points in a quarter just once, getting 15 points in the fourth. The game marked the fifth time Kansas has held an opponent to less than 40 points in coach
Brandon Schneider's tenure.

Junior guard
S'Mya Nichols led the Jayhawks with 21 points on just nine field goal attempts against Denver. Nichols topped the 20-point mark for the seventh time in 11 games this season, hitting 6-of-9 field goal attempts and knocking down 7-of-8 free throw attempts. Nichols is third in the Big 12 in scoring at 20.0 points per game, while leading NCAA Division I women's basketball in free throws made (84) and free throws attempted (100).

Sunday's game vs. Denver was a breakout offensive performance for freshman guard
Libby Fandel, who scored a career-high 17 points to go along with three rebounds and three steals. Fandel was 6-of-12 from the field and 4-of-7 from three while making her fourth career start.

Senior forward
Lilly Meister matched her season high by scoring 11 points for the fourth time this season, while also adding five rebounds and three blocked shots. Meister is fifth on the team in scoring at 8.6 points per game and leads the Jayhawks with 7.2 rebounds per game and 13 blocked shots.

Freshman forward
Tatyonna Brown scored eight points and pulled down a career-high eight rebounds in the win over Denver. Brown was 3-of-5 from the field as she recorded her second-highest scoring output of the season.

Senior guard
Elle Evans continued her streak of hitting at least one three-pointer in each game this season after going 1-for-2 from long range vs. Denver. Evans has hit 30 three-pointers this season and she leads the Big 12 in three-point percentage, shooting 52.6 percent (30-57) from downtown.

Haskell comes to Allen Fieldhouse with a 5-13 record following a 77-74 defeat at Ottawa on Monday night. HINU is led by Ivy Fox with 18.4 points per game and Ona Dauphinais at 17.1. HINU is led by head coach Adam Strom, who is in fifth season with the school. Last season, he guided Haskell to the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship and a berth in the NAIA National Tournament.
