Kansas enters conference play with a 10-2 record following a 107-39 victory over Haskell on 785 Night at Allen Fieldhouse on Wednesday. It marked KU's first 100-point performance since 2020, while the 68-point margin of victory tied for the sixth largest in program history. The Jayhawks are 4-0 in December and 7-0 at home this season. The win also extended KU's non-conference home winning streak to 40 games, dating back to 2020.
Â
Defensively, the Jayhawks have been dominant over their last two contests, holding Denver and Haskell to a combined 77 points. Kansas limited Denver to 38 points and Haskell to 39, marking the first time the Jayhawks have held consecutive opponents under 40 points since 1974, when KU accomplished the feat in three straight games against Haskell, Kansas State and Wichita State.
Â
Sunday's matchup serves as the Big 12 opener for both programs. Kansas is 8-21 all-time in conference openers, including losses in each of the past two seasons. The Jayhawks and Cyclones will meet in a league opener for the fourth time and the first since 2019, with Iowa State winning each of the previous three meetings.
