LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas baseball will continue its stretch of nine games in 11 days this weekend with the start of conference play against Baylor. The Jayhawks and Bears will play three games over the weekend, beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. CT.
"We are excited for the start of our Big 12 schedule," head coach
Dan Fitzgerald said. "The guys are fired up to be back home this weekend, playing in front of our Hoglund faithful."

Kansas (15-2) is coming off a 29-1 run-rule victory at Minnesota on Wednesday. The 29 runs were the most all-time against a Division I opponent and the most ever in a road game. The last time Kansas scored that many runs in a game was 1993. The 28-run margin of victory is the largest ever by Kansas against a Division I opponent and the largest since 1993.
Â
In the third inning, Kansas made it into the NCAA record books when the Jayhawks hit five consecutive home runs. It was the fourth occasion in NCAA Division I history, and the first by a Big 12 program, that a team has done so, with the last being South Carolina at Georgia in 2006.
Chase Diggins,
Max Soliz Jr.,
Brady Counsell,
Brady Ballinger and
Jackson Hauge were the five Jayhawks to go back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back. The five home runs marked a new program record for the most home runs in an inning.
Â
Kansas leads the Big 12 and is tied for fifth in the nation with 37 home runs this season. The Jayhawks tied their program with seven home runs in Wednesday's game. The other instances were 2023, the first season under Fitzgerald, and 1984.
Â
Baylor (13-3) is currently riding a five-game winning streak. Last weekend, the Bears swept Loyola Marymount for the team's second series sweep of the season. Baylor's 13-3 start marks just the fourth time in the last 30 seasons (since 1995) that the team has won at least 13 of its first 16 games to open the year. The Bears are hitting .308 as a team and the pitching staff has posted a 2.79 ERA.
