
Meinershagen’s Podium Finish Headlines Kansas On Day One of NCAA Indoor Nationals

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Kansas Track and Field wrapped up the first day of the 2025 NCAA Indoor Nationals Friday evening inside the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Mason Meinershagen placed fourth in the Women's Pole Vault with Erica Ellis finishing 11th. Alexander Jung competed in the first four events of the Men's Heptathlon, and Clayton Simms competed in the Men's Pole Vault.
Jung was the first Jayhawk to compete Friday morning, as he took on the first four events of the Men's Heptathlon. Jung opened the day by taking 12th in the 60 meter dash, with a time of 7.08 seconds to earn 854 points in the opening event. Jung then set a new season high in the Long Jump with a mark of 6.83 meters.
Following the Long Jump, Jung set a new personal record in the shot put with a throw of 15.26 meters, which was good for third in the event. Jung proceeded to end the day with a 14th place finish in the High Jump to end the day in 9th place with a total of 3,130 points. Jung still has three events to complete Saturday, standing just 227 points off of the lead.
Ellis and Meinershagen were next to compete for Kansas in the Women's Pole Vault. Ellis cleared the 4.25 meter bar, and finished the event in 11th place. Meinershagen cleared three marks, with the highest bar being 4.50 meters. Meinershagen cleared that bar and earned herself fourth place.
Simms was the last Jayhawk to compete on Friday, where he took on the Men's Pole Vault. Simms did not place in the event.

Jung will compete in the final three events of the Men's Heptathlon tomorrow to cap off this year's Indoor National Championships for Kansas. Jung's first event will be the 60 meter hurdles, with the event kicking off at 9:30 AM ET.
