The Jayhawks were trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the third when the offense broke out. Derek Cerda, Jackson Hauge and Dariel Osoria all hit home runs in the eight-run frame to help build an 8-1 lead. Hauge and Osoria each hit a second home run later in the game and Ian Francis added a homer in the eighth inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Baylor (13-5, 0-2 Big 12) scored first on Saturday afternoon with a run in the opening inning. The Bears got runners on second and third with one out and were able to score a run on an RBI groundout by Hunter Simmons.
• Kansas did not have a hit on offense for the first two innings of the game. That changed in the third inning when the Jayhawks sent 13 batters to the plate, scored eight runs on eight hits and had three home runs.
• After a lineout to start the third, Cerda hit a solo homer to left-center field to tie the game at 1-1. Two batters later, Hauge hit his first of two home runs on the day with a two-run shot to left field. The Jayhawks went back-to-back as Osoria hit a solo homer on the very next pitch. Later in the inning, the Jayhawks had three consecutive run-scoring hits. Sawyer Smith had a two-run double, Francis drove in Smith on an RBI double and Cerda brought home Francis on an RBI single. That made it an 8-1 game after three innings.
• Baylor did get two of those runs back in the top of the fourth on a two-run home run by Simmons.
• The Jayhawks responded to Baylor's two runs with three of their own in the bottom of the fourth. Osoria led off the inning with his second homer of the day. Michael Brooks then hit a sac fly later in the inning and Smith had an RBI groundout for it to be an 11-3 game after the fourth inning.
• The big day for Simmons continued as he hit an RBI single up the middle in the fifth to make it an 11-4 game.
• In the seventh, Hauge hit his second home run of the afternoon. His two-run shot gave Kansas a 13-4 lead.
• Tyriq Kemp got those two runs back for Baylor in the eighth as he hit a two-run home run.
• Francis hit his home run to lead off the bottom of the eighth inning. His solo homer made the Kansas lead 14-6.
• The Bears wrapped up the scoring in the ninth with a solo home run from Travis Sanders.

QUOTABLES & NOTABLES
"I think our first time through [the lineup] we hit some balls right on the screws that didn't fall and maybe were a little overaggressive on some stuff. I think there's a maturity to our offense that knows it's nine innings. We would love to score a boat load in the first, but it's more of is the approach good from pitch one. If you never give a pitch away you can really simplify the game of it's just the next pitch in front of you. They've bought into that. Tyler Hancock is a phenomenal hitting coach. Those guys are always down in the cage. Our team loves playing together. One time through the order and then we got a couple chances and took advantage." – Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald
Â
"We just try to come to the field with the same emotions. We have a lot of fun playing baseball. We keep it there and we don't take the game too serious. It's pretty easy to come back when we have failures and continue sustained success." – Jackson Hauge
Â
"We have a crazy amount of depth in our lineup. Even though I really wanted to be out there, I knew it was next man up that I could have trust in those guys. It really feels good to be back out there now. I can't wait to keep on going with these guys." – Dariel Osoria
