AMES, Iowa- After an 8-0 Shutout over Missouri State on Tuesday night at Arrocha Ballpark, the Jayhawks are hitting the road for a three-game Big 12 series against Iowa State, set for April 17–19 at the Cyclone Sports Complex in Ames, Iowa.
"We're not playing anywhere near our potential yet, and we've still got a lot of work to do. We're looking for better quality at-bats, and we need a full offensive and defensive performance," said head coach Jennifer McFalls. "If we want to win on the road in Ames this weekend, we've got to compete a lot harder."
Kansas enters the matchup against the Cyclones following a six-inning shutout win over Missouri State on Tuesday. Senior Olivia Bruno delivered another standout performance, pitching six complete innings without allowing a run. She also contributed at the plate with two hits, two RBIs, and her seventh home run of the season. Freshman Ava Wallace added to the offensive effort with a home run of her own — her third of the season and of her career.
At the plate, Kansas continues to be led by its junior class—Presley Limbaugh, Aynslee Linduff, and Hailey Cripe, all of whom are batting over .320 and have started all 38 games this season. Limbaugh leads the group with 10 doubles, 45 hits, two triples, 25 runs scored, and a .369 batting average.Â
In the circle, Kansas continues to rotate through its pitching staff, with all pitchers making at least 10 appearances and starting in three or more games. Together, the staff has recorded 148 strikeouts over 248 innings pitched. Bruno leads the charge with a 2.42 ERA and has collected four wins and 40 strikeouts.Â
