LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Track and Field completed the first day of the Kansas Relays at Rock Chalk Park Thursday evening.
"It was exciting to watch the races, we are off for the 102nd. I'm looking forward to the rest of the meet… The athletes kept competing, which made it really fun to watch," said Kansas Head Coach

The event began with the Men's Hammer Throw, where junior
Weston Van Camp threw a personal record distance of 55.63 meters (182-6 feet). Van Camp's throw was good enough to advance him to the final round of the Hammer Throw, where he finished in eighth place for the event.
The Women's Hammer Throw saw three freshman Jayhawks throw over 40 meters, with freshman
Addie Cline leading the pack, throwing a personal record distance of 46.87 meters to take 19th.
Cece Young and Kathryn Meachum both threw a distance of 40.23 meters as Young took 22nd, and Meachum took 23rd.
The unseeded Men's Pole Vault was to follow, which saw another Jayhawk set a personal record. Sophomore
Conor Dunback jumped a height of 4.67 meters, clearing the bar on his first attempt. Dunback took sixth in the event, finishing behind fellow Jayhawk sophomore
Payton Kasper, who took fourth.
The first running event of the night was the unseeded 800 meters. Junior
Grace Cramblett and senior
Lauren Heck both placed inside the top ten, with Cramblett taking fourth, running a time of 2:19.60. Heck finished just behind with a mark of 2:24.85.
The 5,000m event capped off the night for Kansas with freshman
Blake Wohler placing third in the event with a time of 14:59.13, running his second 5,000 meter event in under 15 minutes in his freshman season.
