IRVING, Texas – Kansas baseball sophomore
Cooper Moore was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. The Big 12 weekly honor is the first of his career.

Moore was in complete control on Friday night against BYU. He pitched eight dominant innings and recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts. Moore matched his career high with eight innings and allowed only one run and one walk, while striking out double-digit Cougars.

A native of Bixby, Oklahoma, Moore retired the first eight batters he faced in the game and recorded four strikeouts in his final two innings. He has now gone at least 7.0 innings in six of his last nine starts. Moore has five quality starts this season.

This season, Moore is tied for third in fewest walks allowed with 14 and is tied for seventh with a 3.49 ERA and 69.2 innings pitched. His six wins this season are tied for the most on the team.

Moore is the 20th Jayhawk in program history to win Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors. He is the sixth KU player to receive a Big 12 weekly award this season, joining
Brady Ballinger,
Tommy Barth,
Michael Brooks,
Jackson Hauge and
Dominic Voegele.

Kansas (39-14, 17-10) broke the school record for the most wins in a regular season with a walk-off victory on Saturday. The 17 wins in conference play match the most in program history.

KU is currently tied for third place in the Big 12 standings. Kansas will finish the regular season this week at West Virginia, beginning on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. CT.
