Kansas Wraps the Final Day of Big 12 Outdoor Championships

LAWRENCE, KAN. - The Kansas Jayhawks wrapped up the Big 12 Outdoor Championships Saturday as the Men finished 4th as a team with 75 points, the Women finished 5th as a team with 55.83 points.
The day started with Ashton Barkdull winning the Men's Pole Vault with a PR vault of 5.61m. The Jayhawks also had 4 other podium finishers as Bryce Barkdull took 3rd with a PR jump of 5.51m, Brady Koolen & Anthony Meacham tied for 5th, both with new PRs of 5.41m, and Clayton Simms finished 6th. The Men's Pole Vault team picked up 28 points.Â
Senior Dimitrios Pavlidis won the Men's Discus for the second consecutive year with a throw of 61.31m. The Greek International won last year's Men's Discus and two years ago was the runner-up in the event.Â
Sophomore Emmaculate Jemutai won the Women's 1500m in come-from-behind fashion as she ran a new school record, meet record time & PR of 4:08.60. Emma also took 3rd in the Women's 800m, where she ran a time of 2:01.83, which was also a new school record.Â
Sophomore Masen Meinershagen was able to place in the Women's High Jump, recording a personal best of 1.78m, and coming in 5th place. Kansas also had two girls make the podium in Women's Discus, with freshman Madeleine Fey coming in 5th and Junior Sofia Sluchaninova coming in 6th. Tanner Talley & Paul Ngasharr both placed in the Men's 1500m with Talley taking 3rd and Ngasharr 6th respectively. Sophomore Pearl Awanya placed 4th in the Women's 400m. Freshman Kori Randle jumped a PR in the Women's Triple Jump with a mark of 13.11m. Graduate Student TJ Robinson placed 6th in the Men's 800m.Â
In the relays, the Men's 4x100m team placed 7th, the Men's 4x400m team took 7th as well, and the Women's 4x400m team placed 8th.Â
UP NEXT: The Kansas Track & Field team will head to College Station, Texas, for the NCAA West Prelims, taking place May 28th-31st, 2025.Â
